Boilers are under a lot of pressure when generating steam!

When civilization was first figuring out how to harness steam there were many accidents due to the unknown.

On this episode of Steam Culture, Brent talks about one of the stresses that a boiler undergoes when generating steam!

Hoop stress is something that needed to be understood before boilers could be made safely. Thanks to the guy we met last week, William Fairbairn, he developed the idea of hoop stress and how it related to building better boilers.
