Nuclear Fission and Steam—Steam Culture

Posted by Ritchie Ware on May 9, 2016 4:43:17 PM

Steam Culture

On today's episode of Steam Culture, Brent is going nuclear and will be explaining how nuclear engines create steam that then is harnessed by steam turbines to create power.

While Brent is no nuclear physicist, he boils down the basics in a way that is easy to understand. It all starts with two main kinds of reactors:

  1. A boiling water reactor
  2. A pressurized water reactor

Steam isn't just created by fire or electricity, but can also be created by harnessing nuclear reactions. Watch the video to learn more.

P.S. This Steam Culture topic idea came from one of Brent's friends. His friend thought it would make an interesting Steam Culture and so did we! We welcome your suggestions for topics. So, if you have any steamy questions that you want Brent to answer, email him at [email protected]
