Crazy Curved Crane Powered by Steam - Steam Culture

Today Brent talks about a Swan inspired crane that was powered by steam. This curved crane was called the Fairbairn Crane after it's designer Sir William Fairbairn.

Invented in 1850, Fairbairn's goal with this crane was to be able to lift incredibly heavy objects into ships at the docks. With the unqiue curve of the crane, it allowed the shipments to be lifted almost to the top of the crane! Watch this video to learn some history about the Fairbairn Steam Crane and how steam once again became a part of our culture.
