Unlocking Efficiency: The Versatility of Superheated Steam Equipment

Superheated steam equipment is used to produce superheated steam, which is steam that has been heated past the saturation temperature of water. Superheated steam, also known as “dry steam”, is an ideal medium for heat transfer, as superheated steam is one of the most efficient ways to transfer large amounts of heat to an end work process. It is also used extensively in power generation, refineries, paper mills and any application in which a turbine is used.

INDUSTRIES AND APPLICATIONS:

Superheated steam is used extensively in processes that involve a turbine, because the water molecules in the steam are so spread out that they won’t cause collision damage to high-speed turbine blades. Superheated steam is also used in high-heat heat exchangers, because it is ideal for moving large amounts of heat quickly and efficiently.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

WARE’s superheated steam equipment includes the boiler and internal superheat tubes to transfer more heat to the steam after it leaves the steam drum. Every superheated boiler also includes:

  • Main steam valves
  • Blow down valves
  • Fuel trains
  • Level control system with automatic feedwater valve
  • Economizer
  • Support steel
  • Stub stack

SPECIFICATIONS:

WARE has a fleet of superheated boilers available for rental or permanent replacement. They all share the same operating specifications:

  • Capacity of 75,000 pounds per hour 
  • Design pressure of 750 psi 
  • Output temperature of 750°F

SUGGESTED ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT:

WARE offers a range of additional equipment that can be included with your superheated steam boiler to optimize performance, including:

Water Softeners remove harmful minerals, reduce corrosion/scale and improve boiler efficiency

Condensate Tanks capture condensate return and preheat feedwater prior to it being pumped into the boiler

Feedwater Systems keep the boiler operating at rate by replenishing water lost to steam

Backup Feedwater Pumps add an extra layer of security to make sure the feedwater supply is uninterrupted

Blowdown Separators provide a safe way to allow blowdown water to flash to steam 

Natural Gas/#2 Oil feed the boiler’s furnace

Economizers extend energy dollars by reclaiming lost heat for re-use

Steam Pressure Reducing Stations ensure all applications receive steam at the correct pressure for safe use

Gas Pressure Regulating Stations ensure consistent, safe operation by regulating fuel pressure

De-Superheaters control superheated steam temperature when lower superheat temperatures are required

Selective Catalytic Convertors greatly reduce NOx emissions to meet environmental regulations

Heat Exchangers allow heat to transfer between liquids and gases without contact between the two
