Mining Gold in the Yukon with Steam - Steam Culture

During the Gold Rush up North, Miners had to deal with more than just the cold. A permanently frozen layer of soil separated the miners between the precious gold.

Today on Steam Culture, Brent talks about how steam was used to melt permafrost in the Yukon during the gold rush. As with all good things, this revolution of melting the permafrost with steam was found by accident. A small steam leak in a hose melted some of the permafrost which gave Clarence Berry a great idea. Use steam to melt all of the permafrost in their way. Watch as Brent talks about melting permafrost with steam!
