Using Steam to Peel Potatoes

Tomorrow (August 19, 2017) is National Potato Day so we are revisiting an episode we did in 2015 that looked at peeling potatoes with Steam!

Brent LOVES potato chips and steam, of course. Today, we will learn how steam boilers helps factories peel potatoes. Using a unique property of steam, manufacturers are able to cause the bond between the skin and the potato to weaken and then a vacuum removes steam and therefore, the skin.

Watch the video to hear Brent explain the process of removing the skins from the potatoes to make potato chips.
